De situatie in m'n aquarium is de laatste maanden ongewijzigd gebleven. Voornamelijk omdat de visjes van de dagploeg onvindbaar blijven.
The situation of my aquarium isn't changed in any way, these last months. Mostly because the fish of the day shift remain unfindable.
Sturisoma panamese: Na drie maanden van wachten, heb ik het opgegeven en heb mijn toestemming gegeven om de Sturisoma aureum te kopen. Alhoewel de aureum uit het Amazone-bekken komt en dus zacht, zuur water nodig heeft, terwijl de panamese uit Panama komt en waterwaarden vereist die tegen Europees leidingwater aanleunen.

Although the aureum comes from the Amazone-basin and needs soft, acidic water. While the panamese comes from Panama and needs water-values which lay very close to European tap water.
Macrognathus aculeatus: Hoewel ik dit visje had, twee jaar geleden, lijkt het moeilijk om er terug aan te geraken. Een beetje meer geduld lijkt hier op z'n plaats.
Macrognathus aculeatus: Although I've had these fish 2 years ago, it seems very difficult to obtain them again. A bit more patience seems needed.
Gymnogeophagus balzanii: Hoewel de balzanii de gekendste is uit het Gymnogeophagus-geslacht, is hij op dit moment in Vlaanderen niet meer te krijgen. Hij is ten onder gegaan aan zijn eigen succes. Hij voelt zich kiplekker in Europees leidingwater en kweekt erg makkelijk. Daardoor is de markt overspoeld door balzanii-nakomelingen, zodat het voor de kwekers geen zin meer had om hem te kweken. Maar, in Nederland schijnt hij nog wel te krijgen.

The balzanii feels very good in European tap water and breeds very easily. Given these facts, the market got flooded with offspring of the balzanii. Until it had no sense for breeders to keep breeding this cichlid. But, in the Netherlands, the balzanii seems to be available. So, we're looking abroad, now.
Je vindt hier een twintigtal foto's van mijn bak, nu genomen. Zoals je merkt, gaat alles zeer goed met mijn bak. Het decor, de slakjes, de plantjes en de visjes van de nachtploeg (hoewel onzichtbaar) doen het allemaal zeer goed.
